Master of My "Domain"

Why do I torture myself with social media?

The main motivation is to try to keep up with my students.  The great thing about young people is they force you not to become old (except for age, wrinkles and bladder control).  How am I to teach my courses if I don't understand new media?

This has been a wondrous journey in a very frustrating way.  Trying to figure out the difference in my newsfeed and my wall on Facebook took me eight months. Why did they always look different from one another, and which one was the one I saw last time?  When I would wine to my daughters, they would howl with laughter and make me plead for help.  That was followed by one-part mercy and three-parts laughter.

I think it will be three years this summer since I first journeyed into Facebook.  I love the wonderful photos and cool videos most, and I have reconnected with friends new and old-- like more than 30 years ago at KOB TV in Albuquerque.

Here is a video from that era on my YouTube channel

At last, I can say-- I am the master of my domain.

(Please don't tell my wife about the girlfriends from high school who I found found me on Facebook).
